The role of government and local authorities is changing. Decentralization now places stringent demands on the quality of municipal management. Investments in the development of urban areas, drainage systems, roads, bridges, water supply networks and any other urban infrastructure can only be justified when management meets all modern requirements. Further public-private partnership should provide the appropriate solutions.
Considerable urban renewal is being undertaken in the Netherlands. This calls for concepts that bring spatial, environmental, economic and social aspects together. Such concepts will result in solutions that enjoy broad social support. In Europe and elsewhere, many significant changes have been prompted by the desire to achieve harmonization with EU legislation. This ambition forms the motor for farreaching changes, both in the new EU member states and in those which wish to achieve closer relations with Europe. In order to develop appropriate policy, it becomes necessary to strengthen the local organizations and the local capacity. Sustainable enterprise and external safety are important components of the policy.
DHV provides support in identifying safety risks, in formulating and assessing legislative norms, and in implementing measures to prevent flooding, industrial or environmental risks. The strength of DHV continues to be founded on its 'full service' approach to the professional aspects of projects, as well as to process management and organizational consultancy. Local offices and local partners enable the Group to meet demands rapidly and effectively.
